About the Project

The Community First Response System (CFRS) is an innovative initiative by FK Effah Foundation LBG, a registered non-governmental organization in Ghana dedicated to advancing community health, emergency preparedness, and sustainable development.

CFRS aims to prevent avoidable deaths and disabilities by equipping everyday people in Ghana, especially in rural and underserved areas, with the skills to respond to medical emergencies before professional help arrives, or, before victims are appropriately transported to the hospital.

Why CFRS Is Needed

In many parts of Ghana, access to emergency medical services is limited or delayed due to distance, cost, or lack of infrastructure. As a result, countless lives are lost each year from treatable conditions simply because first aid was not administered in time.

CFRS addresses this gap by:

Training local volunteers in basic first aid and emergency response

Creating a network of community responders to handle urgent situations

Promoting health education and prevention strategies

Strengthening community-level preparedness and resilience

Pilot Project

We are launching CFRS in two selected districts - Greater Accra and Eastern Region - as a pilot phase, laying the groundwork for broader national impact. These communities will serve as learning hubs for expanding the model across Ghana.
